There were so many times I was so filled with anxiety over what state I would experience with my eldest son. I was terrified and went into a state of panic every time I heard the phone ring. The dreaded call I might receive to hear of another accident or incident he was involved in. Countless phone calls previously were typically “bad” news, he was in an accident, in trouble, or incoherent, with each phone call leaving me with a racing heartbeat, thumping out of my chest and having to pull it together to face what I may have to. I was in a state of constant fear in the back of my mind. It was heart wrenching and left my nervous system completely frazzled. Even with daily yoga and time in nature. There were so many times that I have to leave before my eldest came home, to go for a bike ride or get into nature to avoid any possible negative situation and avoiding the anxiety that was building within me. Having to try to calm myself down doing EFT tapping, deep breathing or just handing it over to God, to release the anxiety and trust in the letting go process. And it was a process and took lots of practice, all which I was given.
The spiritual process of letting go and releasing your plan involves surrendering control over the outcome of situations in life and trusting a higher power or the flow of the universe. It begins with the recognition that, despite our best efforts, we do not have full control over every aspect of life. The first step in this process is acceptance—acknowledging that we cannot force or manipulate every circumstance according to our own will. This acceptance is an act of releasing attachment to specific outcomes, whether in relationships, career paths, or personal aspirations. In spiritual terms, attachment is often seen as a source of suffering, as it leads to frustration, anxiety, and disillusionment when things do not unfold as planned.
Releasing your plan also requires cultivating trust—trust in yourself, in others, and in the greater cosmic design. This means recognizing that life often holds greater wisdom than our individual perspective can fathom, and that what we perceive as setbacks may ultimately be part of a greater, unfolding process. It involves a deep inner knowing that even when things don’t go according to the script we’ve written, the universe has a way of guiding us toward what is truly in alignment with our highest good. Spiritual practices such as meditation, prayer, and mindfulness can facilitate this process, helping individuals detach from rigid expectations and tune into their inner wisdom. Letting go also requires self-compassion, as we may experience grief, frustration, or fear when our plans don’t materialize as expected. By allowing ourselves to feel these emotions without judgment, we release the grip of control and open ourselves to new possibilities.
Ultimately, the spiritual process of letting go is an act of surrender—not as a form of defeat but as an empowering choice to trust the flow of life and the wisdom inherent within each moment. It is an invitation to align with the present, to honor the process of life unfolding in its own time, and to cultivate peace with the unknown. Through this release, we create space for new opportunities and deeper spiritual growth, opening ourselves to the mysteries of life and the expansive potential that comes from trusting the journey itself.💜
